Strawberry Growing Class & Strawberry Shortcake Tasting

Learn the secrets of growing mouthwatering strawberries throughout the year with master gardener and garden writer Julie Bawden-Davis and Amy Bawden of Exotic Edibles & Ornamentals. Topics covered include the best strawberry types for year-round growing in Southern California, planting, fertilizing and watering. The presentation includes a demonstration on planting strawberries in containers and a yummy strawberry shortcake tasting. Class participants go home with their very own organic strawberry plant. Julie will also sign her book, The Strawberry Story: How to Grow Great Berries in Southern California.

Exotic Edibles & Ornamentals (www.exoticedibles.net) is the brainchild of sisters Julie Bawden-Davis and Amy Bawden, who strive to give the gardener a unique experience by showing them how to organically grow hard-to-find specialty plants and use them in the kitchen. Julie Bawden-Davis is a Southern California garden writer, Master Gardener and organic plant grower.  Her articles have appeared in a wide variety of publications, including Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, The Los Angeles Times and Organic Gardening. Julie has written four books, including The Strawberry Story: How to Grow Great Berries in Southern California and Reader's Digest Flower Gardening. Amy Bawden is an educator and organic plant grower. Amy has taught a wide variety of subjects to children and adults through seminars and in the classroom setting.
